From a First Digital Presence to a Growing Business Platform
Our work with Art & Build began in 2021 with a clear and relatively modest brief: create a professional visual identity and a clean online presence for a growing construction company.
KAIA Design developed the logo, visual direction and first WordPress website, initially conceived as a straightforward company brochure presenting Art & Build, its services, completed projects and customer feedback.
As the business evolved, its digital requirements changed with it. Rather than repeatedly replacing what had already been built, we developed the original foundations into a much broader platform – expanding the website, strengthening the brand, introducing new content and gradually building the technical and strategic foundations for Local SEO, content-led search growth and AI search visibility.
What began as a relatively simple website has therefore become a long-term digital project that has grown alongside the business itself.
A Visual Identity Designed to Evolve
The visual identity created for Art & Build established a design language that has remained recognisable throughout the project’s evolution.
A restrained palette of soft blue-grey, white and gold was combined with clean typography, generous spacing and strong project imagery to create a contemporary identity appropriate for a premium construction and refurbishment company.
Although the website has changed considerably in scale, structure and purpose, the original visual foundations have remained relevant. Rather than pursuing unnecessary redesigns, we evolved the interface around the growing volume of services, projects and content while preserving the character of the original brand.
Our wider branding work has included the Art & Build logo, two promotional flyers, banners, graphic content and a proposal template, helping maintain a consistent identity across both digital and client-facing materials.
From Brochure Website to a Structured Digital Platform
The first Art & Build website was intentionally simple. Its role was to introduce the company, explain its principal services, present a small selection of completed projects and provide potential customers with a clear route to make contact.
As Art & Build grew, that model was no longer enough. The number of services, projects, photographs and search-focused content increased significantly, requiring a much stronger information architecture and a website capable of supporting future development.
Instead of abandoning the original platform, we progressively rebuilt and expanded the existing WordPress installation. Legacy theme elements and unnecessary remnants were cleaned up, page structures were refined and the website was reorganised around a growing range of services, locations, projects and informational content.
Project information and extensive image libraries supplied by Art & Build were edited, structured and transformed into consistent website content. Individual projects developed from short gallery entries into more useful examples of completed work, while service pages became increasingly detailed and commercially focused.
The result is a website that retains the clean visual language of the original design while performing a very different role – acting as an evolving business, content and search platform rather than a static online brochure.

CURRENT PLATFORM
Building Search Visibility into the Website Structure
SEO developed progressively alongside the website. Early work focused on on-page optimisation, technical foundations, content structure and service relevance, while search became a much more significant part of the project as the platform expanded.
From 2025, the work developed into a more structured SEO programme combining Technical SEO, Local SEO, keyword research, Search Console analysis, service and location content, internal linking and ongoing content optimisation.
The website architecture was refined so that search engines could more clearly understand the relationship between Art & Build’s services, completed projects, geographic relevance and informational content.
Local visibility around Croydon and South London was supported beyond the website through Google business information, relevant third-party profiles, construction directories and citation development, helping reinforce a consistent relationship between the company, its services and its location.
Google Search Console data and real user queries increasingly informed future development, allowing us to identify emerging opportunities and prioritise topics, pages and locations showing genuine search potential.
Turning Real Homeowner Questions into Search Assets
As the SEO strategy matured, the website needed to answer more than commercial searches for building services. Potential customers were researching costs, planning requirements, construction methods and contractors long before they were ready to request a quotation.
Rather than creating a conventional blog filled with short generic articles, we began developing the Art & Build Knowledge Centre around genuine homeowner questions and real search behaviour.
Topics have included loft conversion costs in Croydon, planning permission, Building Regulations, insulation, different loft conversion types, potential property value and how to choose an appropriate building contractor.
These resources are strategically connected with relevant service pages, location content and completed projects, allowing users to move naturally between research, expertise and commercial information while strengthening the website’s internal SEO structure.
The Knowledge Centre has become one of the project’s most important long-term assets – supporting topical authority in traditional search while also creating structured, useful source material for emerging AI-powered search experiences.

Growing Visibility Across Croydon and South London
The combination of stronger technical foundations, Local SEO, service content and the Knowledge Centre has significantly expanded the range of searches for which Art & Build is visible.
Across the latest 12-month Google Search Console period, the website generated 40,086 Google Search impressions and 397 organic clicks. The most recent three-month period alone generated 24,822 impressions, demonstrating how rapidly search visibility has expanded as newer content and pages have entered Google’s search results.
Importantly, this visibility remains closely aligned with Art & Build’s actual market. Of those latest three-month impressions, 23,513 came from UK searches.

From Search Visibility to Source-Level AI Citations
The same foundations built for traditional search are also beginning to support Art & Build within Google’s AI-powered search experiences.
In observed Google AI Mode and AI Overview results, Art & Build has appeared at two distinct levels: as a relevant local construction business and as a direct source of information used within AI-generated answers.
For homeowner queries around loft conversion costs and choosing a contractor in Croydon, Google has referenced both Art & Build’s service pages and Knowledge Centre content as supporting sources.
This distinction is important. The visibility is not based solely on a business listing or company name. It demonstrates that content developed as part of the wider SEO strategy is being recognised as useful supporting material for the questions potential customers are asking.
The result connects Technical SEO, Local SEO, content architecture, internal linking, Knowledge Centre development and entity signals into a broader search strategy designed for both traditional and emerging discovery environments.
A Digital Platform Built in Stages
01 - Brand & First Digital Presence
Art & Build began with a clear visual identity and a simple WordPress website designed to establish a professional digital presence and present the company’s core services and early projects.
02 - Growing the Platform
03 - Stronger Technical Foundations
04 - Search-Led Growth
05 - Knowledge & Topical Authority
06 - AI Search & Continued Development
From Early Concepts to a Growing Digital Presence
Art & Build has developed across multiple stages of design, content and search growth. The selected work below shows how the original identity has been carried through from early website concepts and branding into the expanding digital platform used today.
Built for the Next Stage of Growth
Art & Build remains a long-term KAIA Design project rather than a completed one-off website build.
While the active SEO development programme is currently paused, KAIA Design continues to provide essential website care and technical support. The existing website architecture, content library, Local SEO foundations and search footprint remain in place and continue to provide a strong base for future development.
The project demonstrates the value of allowing a digital platform to evolve with the business behind it. What began as a simple company website has developed into a broader ecosystem connecting brand, website, projects, search visibility, homeowner knowledge and emerging AI discovery.
When the next phase begins, the foundations are already there to build on.
